:D Quite true. I might sound like I hate the WRC and everything and perhaps I do but I still get a good laugh out of being here with people who appreciate a good bit of humour :)
Oh and AFF.... as always you never cease to make me laugh with your posts :D
Yes, what happens here today? Maybe Humour and valentine´s Day has something to do here? :D

I do not understand...
I do not think that Loeb improved on snow during the last year. He was already fast always and everywhere - no question!
I also do not think that Jari Mattis speed worsened in the last year...
...moreover I do not think that Hennings speed on snow is slower than Sordos.
...so it must have to do something with the car - at least to a certain extent.
bluuford
14th February 2009, 09:19
Ogier is missing.. and like I said.. there is advantage to be first on the road in the morning. The first is driving like on tarmac.. every next car has more and more loose snow. Should see good times by Jari-Matti in afternoon.

Yes he can and easily.. If Ford uses some tactics in loose surface gravel events results will be different, but it does not matter. In the real fight he is much better than the current drivers. But he is not competing anymore in 2020? and then there is great battle in the top...

Yes, it looks like you were correct, how annoying that is. I must say that Sordo's pace is the one that has surprised me the most, there were nothing in his previous snow-rallies that would indicate his pace now. And the Henning vs. Petter duel - that is not over yet.
Seems like the Xsara lacks the top speed on straights, read a forumers observation that Petter looked just as fast in and out of corners, but Loebs car just kept on accelerating way faster than the Xsara.
However, Latvala hasn't got caught a snow bank yet, and when that happens + Sordos problems keeps up, Petter soon will be third! ;)

Whatever you say about Henning, he is good for the Championship, puts together better deals to run in the WRC than Subaru, Suzuki and many more. Not the fastest, but good value for money. Even Atko went off trying to catch him in Ireland.

Why Hirvonen had to try to outsmart Loeb yesterday ?????
If I were rallying, I wouldn't give tenth of a second free to Loeb if I won it. Mikko's strategy is plain stupid and now he is paying a hard price for it.

Look at this:
Sandell’s advantage is heading back towards the two-minute mark, but it’s over the returning Eyvind Brynildsen. The Norwegian retired from the first day of the rally after going off the road on the fifth stage of the event. The Mitsubishi driver was, however, credited with notional times after the stewards of the event noted he only went off the road while taking avoiding action to miss the ditched Subaru Impreza of P-WRC rival Patrik Flodin. "
I have never read something like, (OK take the part abou retiring out, that is something invented by WRC, he continue racing but with a lot of time lost in SS5) he was given notional times ???????.
It was someone elses partial fault, but acrash in rally is THATWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only times when notional times are reasonable is when you are completely blocked, or stopped for safety of an injured crew.

I agree, it´s really strange. The second day started without Brynildsen in the top positions, but then, out of the blue, there he is. Ok, maybe he deserves being back in the race, but why did it took so long for rally commisioners to decide?

Didn't something like this happen in Finland a few years ago? Maybe 05? Im thinking a Skoda got stuck trying to overtake a car blocking the stage. Might have been Paasonen trying to overtake Gigi I cant fully remember. I cant remember whether the stuck car got back out either, but there was certainly no notional times given.

Just slow down, and then keep going. I am sorry, taht is bad luck, as it is when the car before you has troubles and get you in the dust, or you loose tiem while trying to overtake him.
It is part of rallying.
It has always ben that way in rally, it could be a cow, a damaged car, spectator, any reason.
Would you have given 8 seconds "return" to Loeb in Argentina 2006, when he has to slow down and turn to avoid a cow???

Yes but that occasion happened at low speed, trying to go around the car in ditch and passing car also dropped into ditch. There was no danger to life or limb there.

probably true!
but there is nothing really different to previous years (maybe exept 2007). Ok, Grönholm was faster on gravel but not consistent enough, so that for example Loeb had to drive only 2/3 of the championship with a the older Xsara to become champion in 2006.
I do not understand why for example MotoGP is a more exiting championship although there is one person being better than all others as well. So that unfortunately can not be the only problem...

Technical problems. I had slideshow very often and only few crews without freezing.
Since it was several hours later I would presume some English comments and timing. Instead of that Norwegian comments and uselles music, working timing but no final time (time just went on even after car passed the finish).
Also no onboards and almost no sound from the cars.
I hoped ISC would put more work into the broadcasting than just replay Norwegian live (?) coverage...

Well.. I managed to find internet near to the start of my Marathon and I can give you a weather update for tomorrow:
My maps are saying..
The snow starts approximately at 7:30.. first it will be light snow but it becomes moderate hour and half later. Moderate snowfall continues until the end of rally.
Temperature stays between -5 and -10 degrees whole day
So.. by the second pass of the stages there should be a few up to 5 centimeters of fresh snow covering the stages.
Local site must be wrong this time. to forecast 10 hours is usually very exact

I had a look into homologation list on fia.com and found that those two ex-CRT Fabias from Konsgrud have probably different suspension (and running gear) than all others. There is homologation of suspension from 1st january 2007. It must have been developed by CRT kopecký and than homologated by Škoda. That's the only possibility. I presume that only those two cars have it and that may be paticular reason for better performance of those cars.

Although it is safer to stay where he is since Hennig is a long way back and on probability all he may do is get ahead of Mikko, there is enough distance to try it if he has the balls.

Good morning folks
Loeb is just playing with Mikko. Seems he has a total control of the rally.

Hi Jani :)
Yes, it seems. The fight between Petter and Matthew Wilson is still exciting, only 2,5 seconds between them.

I also sawed, funnily enough... a Yellow C4...
But watching Day 1 & 2 coverage... only minimal coverage of the only Subaru in the Rally of Mads and then a split second of this yellow C4... and some nice coverage of the Fabia... but then an incident..
