Mirek, do you have any idea what car he will use during Barum Rally, because i don't think there are so many decent Peugeot's available, are there? Maybe he can use Kopecky's car if Jaan is driving the Skoda as a "zero" car. :D (Just joking). Can i ask you if you have stage's for Barum, or will you have them in the near future? Thanks ;)

Mirek
8th July 2008, 16:30
I think the car will be from Italy, but must wait for confirmation ;)

About stages. Have a look at last year on http://www.barum.rally.cz.

City stage should be the same as 2007.

Stage Pindula is in reverse direction and a little bit shorter (cutted very fast few hundred meters before finish of 2007).

Stage Zádveřice will be almost same as last year in my opinion, only a bit different at start.

Stage Janišov is same but few kilometers longer (start part is new).

Stage Troják will be the same in my opinion.

Stage Komárov uses last year shakedow in reverse dirrection. It should be similar to what was driven in 2006.

Stages Kudlovice and Halenkovice are reversed but I think non modified reasonably from 2007.

Shakedown is driven on last year stage Slušovice in reverse direction. Map is here:

FIA was looking at differant options for ratio of the XTrac hence the delay of homologation.

That will also end the only homologated XTrac S2000 which is MG at the moment. All other homologated S2000 uses SADEV

But I could be wrong... :D

Hi Katxal,
Had a look on your S2000 register website. Couldn't help notice Roy Whites MG S2000 Sport (BU03 OUW) as being listed with the team MSD. I don't know what you count as the team, but I do know that BTR Preparations (Tim Ashton) actually prepares the car and runs the car including support of the car, I beleive. I think MSD may have built it/converted the engine from Touring car specification, but I don't beleive they are the team as such.

The MG S2000 SPORT's K2000 engine is built by Engine Developments Limited - formerly known as Judd - and the same engine is fitted to the MG ZS that has been raced in the British Touring Car Championship since 2004 in the hands of Anthony Reid, Colin Turkington, Rob Collard, Jason Huighes and Fiona Leggate.

MEM Proton Satria Neo Super 2000 Rally Car

The Car

Based on the Proton Satria Neo, the MEM Proton Super 2000 Rally Car has been constructed by MEM to conform with the latest FIA homologation specifications. The car can be supplied to either tarmac or gravel specification as required.

Chassis

The existing Satria Neo bodyshell is extensively modified to accept the S2000 components including the 4 wheel drive system. It is then strengthened considerably to comply with FIA regulations by fitting a safety roll cage using 35 metres of ChroMo Steel Tube.

Engine

The engine is based on the Waja 1.8 engine with racing internals and increasing the capacity to 1998cc, which is positioned transversely and producing a power output of 280bhp at 7800 rpm.

Transmission

The transmission is a four wheel drive system specifically developed by Xtrac for S2000, using a 6 speed sequential gearbox with 3 plated limited slip differentials, and handbrake release system.

Brakes

The Brake callipers are Alcon 4 piston calipers front and rear. The front discs are 350mm for the tarmac version and 300mm for the gravel version. The rear discs are identical for both specifications.

Electrical System

The car features a GEMS integral engine ECU and power management system with data logging and glass dash display.

Suspension

The suspension is MacPherson strut and wishbone design by MEM using Dynamics dampers. Anti Roll bars front and rear.

Wheels

The car is fitted with 8 x 18 inch alloy wheels for tarmac and 6.5 X 15 inch alloy wheels for gravel

Weight

1150 Kg for the tarmac version and 1200 Kg for the gravel version

Homologation is due to go ahead for the 1st of August as the car is moving under its own steam now
Drivers not sure yet as I guess Chris Mellors of MEM will do some work but no doubt they will announce a test driver and maybe a driver for an event they might have earmarked to do.

There is a Irish driver which is supposed to have an order for one and thats Donie O'Sullivan and hopefully he will have his car for an Irish round (rumoured to be the Cork 20 Rally) this year

News from Rallye Magazin
The clock is ticking inexorably. Only a few days left to the MSD developers to its latest baby running at too., the Opel Corsa S2000 first presented to the public, but so far the car has not yet test kilometres.

"The timetable is tight, but the car is as good as done," Whitehead told Motorsport News clear. "Of course we must at the last detail work is not dawdle. We want to finish quickly so as to have two or three days to test. The chances of the Germany-are starting 50:50. "

The ingredients will use at least not fail. The 2-litre engine comes from Swindon from the BTCC and for the rally to use slightly more favourable torque distribution. gearbox from X-Trac.

Little hope for German fans: Should there with the premiere to rally Germany fails, it promises Whitehead, "that the first use of the car still held on German soil, with Horst Rotter behind the wheel."

Hope they do a better job then Belgium who choice 'old Snijers' instead of young up comming talent

Ok Snijers drove good rally, but the drive should have gone to new talent

Snijers was a excellent choice......good to see him out driving well and finishing the event!!!
