You are right, but East German Rally was not THE Deutschland Rally and I have it (Pneumant) as a 5th round of ERC'72 and different date: March 15-18th.

Hello, who can help me with old results of Rally Tatry ( Czechoslovakia and now Slovakia )? I am looking for results from 1975 to 1988. Usually I have only top ten. The worst is year 1977 where I have only top 3. Thank you in advance.

At first instance excuse me if my question gets repetitive, but I've been searching for some dates of rallys from 1969 and I didn't find out anything.
I would like to know dates of Rally San Remo 1969, Rally Morocco 1969 and RAC Rally 1969. Thanks in advanced

San Remo 69 - 5.-9. March
RAC 69 - 14.-21. November
FAL
4th September 2007, 17:10
Actual running time for RAC would have been 5 days then (one night halt only, after the third day). Dates overall may include scrutineering/route issuing (route available only one day before start then) and prizegiving the day after the finish.

A question about Portugal 1990. Jonkka has added full result and entry list to his site. On the entry list are 108 cars (http://www.juwra.com/portugal_1990_entries.html). According to World Rallying there were 100 cars at the start. Does anyone know which cars from the entry list did not start the rally?

Because of those priceless sites they run, and in order to make them more accurate.
Considering 1988 starts of Jorge Recalde & Giovanni Del Zoppo.
I've just found a few contemporary magazines (yes, the Autosprints) which revealed to me that these two were running all the events (Recalde:Portugal, Corse, Acropolis, Olympus, 1000 Lakes, San Remo & R.A.C.; Del Zoppo:Monte Carlo, Portugal, Corse, Acropolis, Olympus, 1000 Lakes & San Remo) in the Lancias run by Top Run, the Italian team. The main sponsor for the team was Campari, while drivers had their own additional personal sponsorship deals.
Also, a 3rd Lancia was run by Top Run at the 1000 Lakes, for Massimo Ercolani, although I couldn't find anything about the rest of his 1988 starts.
Finally, all the cars were Lancia Delta Integrales (Gr. N, of course), except for the Del Zoppo's car at Monte Carlo, which was a Lancia Delta HF 4WD.
I've seen pics of both Del Zoppo's and Recalde's cars from Portugal, and they're definitely both Integrales.
Hope this helps.

Hi guys
Google search has directed me to you informative site.
I bought a old mazda 323 rally car 9 months ago and i am trying to find info on her, the car was apparently in the Rally van Looi in 90/91. The stickers on the roll cage in the pic, are of the other uk rallys it was in, all down south mainly. I have tried to find the entree list, but no luck.
All of the stickers on the cage have the heading RAC motor sports, What does this imply, because when i saw that my heart skipped a beat

A lot of small white paper stickers with "RAC Motor Sports Association" and a signature will be UK scrutineering stickers issued on all UK rallies of all status.
Could you list the rallies? I have one car in mind that was southern based and owned by someone who also competed in Belgium - but quite a few people had Group N 323s.
This thread cannot be beaten for results data but for someone in the UK to recognise an individual car, you might have more luck on:

Graham Robson's book "Boreham" states there were 11 stages on the 68 Austrian Alpine, the first appearance of the Ford Escort TwinCam as a Group 2 car (previous homologation was only into Group 3).
The year 68 had some highlights (not least near-revolutions in many countries!) but was generally a disaster for European rallying (certainly the last half of the year) because so many factory teams were committed to the London- Sydney Marathon and had no money for other events. Saab was an exception as they did not do London-Sydney.
We now tend to look back at these Marathon events as only good but at the time some hated what it meant for the classic European events.

Can someone help to identify this picture, please (sorry if this isn't the correct place):
Is this McRae, 1993, San Remo ?!
http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/1949/93sanxxga5.jpg
Hi jmrf !
My guess, Colin McRae un Argentina 94 !
Sponsor Repsol just in 94 with Sainz in the team. Although the picture do not allow to see what rally 3 points : the plate of the rally is white, it's on gravel and most important that red stick on the window over 555.
That's what i think but not 100% sure !

Can't help with reg plates but 1982 would have been Asconas not Mantas (the Manta 400 was not homologated until 1983, after long delays).
I see Antonella Mandelli listed in 1981. I'm still dreaming about when I saw her on Ypres in 1983............

Both Lampi and Laine were entered in Quattro A2s on the 83 RAC Rally. Laine "won" Group One on the 1980 RAC in an Escort RS2000 but was excluded at post-event scrutineering for having a polished/worked cylinder head.

Ingvar Carlsson/Ingemar Carlsson appear in the entry list as driver/co-driver but the result listed above says co-driver was Berg so it's a late change of co-driver if correct rather than confusion over names?
Inglehof (correct spelling?) has caused confusion on UK entry lists also!

Can't see any name like Flett or Fleck as either driver or co-driver. There are a couple of cars in the official programme with co-drivers to be named.
So, the mention of "Berg" as Carlsson's co-driver on 72 Scottish above was incorrect?

Do any of you have detailed results for the RAC rallies of '52, '53, '54,'55 &'56?
I am particularly interested in any Morgans that finished the rally in that period, and what if any prizes they may have taken.
I am also interested in any information regarding a special bodied Morgan, prepared for and driven by a Roger Harper, at this time. UK registration VNO 600. Harper had previously rallied a Ferrari Inter, and the Special Morgan was very similar in appearance.
Any information gratefully recived.

1952 RAC 34th, class 2 (closed - 2500) / 12th H. Ripley GB No 214 Ford
1954 RAC 139th, no class result, H. Ripley GB No 101 Ford
No information on co-driver - maybe it was John Liddle, who knows?
By the way, do you know the first name of Mr Ripley?

Do any of you have detailed results for the RAC rallies of '52, '53, '54,'55 &'56?
I am particularly interested in any Morgans that finished the rally in that period, and what if any prizes they may have taken.
I am also interested in any information regarding a special bodied Morgan, prepared for and driven by a Roger Harper, at this time. UK registration VNO 600. Harper had previously rallied a Ferrari Inter, and the Special Morgan was very similar in appearance.

I took this photo of Jimmy Rae on the 1972 Scottish Rally. Car is the Frew's of Perth Escort RS1600. In 1973, he won the BBC Wheelbase rally scholarship and the loan of an ex-works car for 1974 (the Mikkola 1973 RAC Rally car, OOO97M)
Hi "FAL" I have just joined Motorsport Forum and found your posting.
The car is TES55k, one of the two Escorts I built and competed in with James (aka Jimmy) in the early 70's
The fisrt, LES55G, a 1300 GT won us the 1970 Scottish Rally Championship.
The second, which you have photographed, was an RS1600 and won us the Scottish Rally Championship in 1972.
Would it be possible to have a hi-res scan of your pic? Do you have any more from that era?

Jonkka on his site has points scored by Renault 18 GTX in 5th pos. and VW Gol in 10th pos. added in Renaults' and VW's totals for the 1989 season.
All other sources I've managed to find list those points for a separate entries, namely 10 points for Renault Argentina and 1 point for Volkswagen Argentina, and not adding it to Renault or VW.
I'd like to know should these points be given to Renault and VW, or were Renault Argentina and Volkswagen Argentina really considered to be separate manufacturers?

I vaguely recall there was trouble over it at the time. It was Brazil, not Argentina, wasn't it where they always had to pack the entry list with local Renaults to reach the FIA minimum number of starters to have WRC points awarded at all?

Hi Martin
I have a copy of the 1980 results as I was servicing on the event that year & Rothmans seemed to be handing out copies to anyone who asked. The cover says they were "computer-printed by the business centre", with a Douglas address. The presentation of the results looks very much like yours but there's no mention on any of the pages of who produced the data. I'm in the process of scanning them for "Anihel" & have pointed him to David's archives for later years.
DTS first year was the 'Silver Jubilee' event in 1988, but the oldest results I can find since 1980 are 1991.

Thanks Steve, must go into the loft and consult my archive. I should have all the years from 1980 to 2005 except 1999. Thinking about it I believe 1980 was our first year. It was the year we transitioned from using a time sharing bureau to using our own micro computers; North Start Horizons with a 4MHz processor, 48KB (yes KB) of RAM and twin 5.25" floppy disk drives. Not sure if it was 1980 or 1981 that the press system made its debut having been finished (more or less) on the ferry over to the Island.

I cannot find any information in either World Rallying or Rally's & Races about who serviced Saby's Lancia. It could well have been the French Lancia importer running his car. No mention of Saby in connection with Jolly Club.

Then in 1964 4 Yugoslavian crews with Zastrava 750 were entered but having only entry list I know only numbers reserved to them:27, 28, 29, 67. All I know is that some YU drivers took part in Poland Rally 1964, maybe you can know their names, too.

According to Holmes' yearbook Jolly Club entered following crews in following rallies in 1990:
MC - Cerrato/Cerri;
P - Cerrato/Cerri;
GR - Fiorio/Pirollo;
FIN - Fiorio/Pirollo;
I - Cerrato/Cerri, Fiorio/Pirollo;
GB - Auriol/Occelli, Droogmans/Joosten;
Bruno Saby's entrant was Lancia Fina Racing, but no idea who prepared and serviced his Lancia;

Jesus Puras was entered by Jolly Club during 1990, but I believe this was the Spanish arm.

Hmmm, what is your source?
'Cos all sources I've found have Anders Olsson (jonkka, rallyparadise, some japanese site...).
Only on RallyBase it says Lars Backman, so I wonder...?
BTW, Tjeerd, Auriol was definitely in Jolly Club Lancia at 1990 RAC, not the Martini one, and Armin Schwarz was co-driven by Klaus Wicha at the same rally, not Arne Hertz.

Official entry list has Backman, will check MN's of that era to see if changed co-driver. Rallyworld has Olsson in final classification.

Checked official results and Anders Olsson was co-driving. Obviously Backman had to pull out for some reason or other prior to event.

A question on subject of Rallye do Portugal:
the famous jump Fafe is located in the special stage called... (?)
Regards
Janusz
Hi, that I know! The jump was part of a stage called Lameirinha or Fafe-Lameirinha, or simply Fafe (94-95).
It was first used by the portuguese rally in 1984 with a distance of 10 km. In 1994 the stage called Fafe had 20 km, and from 1996 to 2001, the stage Fafe-Lameirinha changed to 15 km. Now this stage is used in Rally FcPorto and his distance is now 21 km.

I'm sure someone from Germany with results records will be able to help. I do not speak German but the wording effectively says "German Automobile Club. National Governing Body for Motorsport in Germany". I'm not sure whether the last line is an address or some sort of registration of the car for motorsport.
What engine size is it (1071cc or 970 or 1275)? "Dry" (not Hydrolastic) suspension? If it competed in Group 1 then, the only modifications allowed would have been, I think, a maximum of 2 additional front lights.

Just change the last part of the URL after performing the search from type=drivernation to type=drivernationbd and you'll see all the dates, like at http://www.rallybase.nl/index.php?abbrev=Fin&dc=b&type=drivernationbd

What is your source for Colin Bond's date of birth? Internet sources all say 24 February 1942. Where did you find the 1941 date?In Peter Higham's Guide to International Motor Racing. I only have the first edition (1994). Maybe someone has a later edition and can have a look whether he corrected that date or not. Since apparently there's no other source for the 1941 date I'm prepared to delete it in favour of the 1942 date.

If I don't discover any problems with the 'new' page I'll make it the standard one.
If there's no other source than Wikipedia for the 1942 Colin Bond birthdate, I don't mind to let the 1941 one stand for now. All mentions of 1941 on the web could come from the same source, and we don't know if that's a reliable source or not.

Fin McCaul, b. 11 May 1963 (but I think he is Irish)
He is referred to as Widnes rally star Fin McCaul in an article I found. Widnes is a town in Cheshire, England. But I've also seen him listed as being Irish in results. Maybe someone knows him personally?

They're different people. In this result they both appear:

c4, thanks for the info about Fin McCaul. As he's originally an Ulsterman I'll leave him under Great Britain.
I've changed Frank Meagher's nationality to Irish by the way, I found he's from Co. Tipperary in the Republic of Ireland.

Forum member LazioCenturion has already done a lot of work on the 2007 WRC rounds that now finally can be added, and he's done IRC results of 2007 as well. So that's something I'm going to work on. And because of the login issues I've had, there's several months of mail backlog to go through with questions, corrections and additions by users...

Technically, he must have a current address of some sort in the Irish Republic to hold an Irish licence (as Eddie Irvine did).

He must as is always entered as Irish in events that he does including FIA ones.

It's about time that happened, isn't it... But there's so much material to be added that cannot be found so easily as the recent WRC results. It's more fun adding older ERC results :) But 2007 and 2008 WRC is next on my list.

M. Saunders is almost certainly Martin Sunders. Both he and Dave Cooling competed on the Manx International in Metrro GTi's in 1994 but in different cars. (Dave Cooling with co-driver Andy Wynn, Martin Saunders driven by Anna Tait).
