rally radio is a joke !!! why they broadcast interviews and songs whne the rally is running??? isn't the big service interval long enough for them to play such things ????

pettersolberg29
29th February 2008, 16:51
Why is Petter so unlucky?

He was going fastest after first four splits - possible first win?

Then a stupid dog or donkey or whatever has ruined his rally. He'll lose another 30 secs at least here, and will do well to finsih the day in touch of the top 5.

Miserable day....

What the hell happened to gardemeister?

Rallye_106

pettersolberg29

Two things:

Yes, your chat is better than WRR!

But to say Atkinson is better thn Solberg is ridiclous - I'll guaratnee Petter is ahead of Chris by Sunday. Before hitting an idiotic dog, Petter was first on the splits, and hopefully he'll storm after service to overtake Chris - (and yes I do live in Dreamland! But one has to hope)

Garry Walker
29th February 2008, 17:32
I hope Hirvosen slow pace is somehow related to his strategy. If not, then he's not gonna win the title...

On pure pace he simply isn`t quick enough to keep up with Loeb or Latvala. He can beat Latvala when the he makes mistakes though and Latvala is still so inexperienced he will make them from time to time.

Loeb is a bit harder nut to crack though and by not applying pressure to him, Loeb will surley not make mistakes.

I think Loeb too by now has realized that his only real opponent for the title could be Latvala, not Hirvonen.

Very well said. Unfortunately as I have said MANY times before, Mikko just isn't fast enough to be a top driver. He's a good no.2 and will stay like that for his career. He will be high on points once again because of his careful atitude, but that is it. He has been very lucky to have a manager like he has. Otherwise he would be just one those many has beens and that would have happened after the disaterous Subary season.

Yes, i think Mikko is driving very wisely, rally isn't over yet and main thing is to keep the lead in driving championship. and afterall anything could happen...it's better to make conclusions after the rally is over...

I guess my pep talk with Chris worked!

Wore a wig last night to the opening ceremony and told him to take a podium. I hope he accomplishes that feat.

Also, I had a brief chat with Atkinson. I asked him why he did not just push for the win. He said "I wish I could." To be honest it was a big disappointment to hear a talented driver utter those words. Subaru is holding back Atkinson tremendously.

...really got wasted last night and there is no way I can make it to the stages...I will enjoy the rally here with the rest of you as I get rid of this hangover...

Viva Mexico! Viva Subaru!

Yup. Looks like JML has stepped straight into Marcus' shoes and Mikko has just carried on like before. There's only so long the sweeping excuse can hold water.

It's disappointing, I was hoping for a fight here between them after Mikko gave up in Sweden after one day. At least Latvala has Loeb to fight against!

Jari-Matti leading and Loeb on his tail will be the one to test Latvala's head. If he'll succeed as it seems so far, I think he'll turn unstoppable. Way to go Young Latvala

Too bad, this was his first gravel rally with Ford, a rally he should have "cruised" even more compared than Monte and Sweden because of the selection we're seeing (Sordo off, Loeb with engine doubts, Solberg hit a dog, Suzukis out etc.).

"Roll cage damage means no restart for Galli"

Gigi Galli has retired from Rally Mexico as a result of roll cage damage sustained in his accident on stage four.

Galli was in third place before the accident which happened just 40 metres into the stage. After running wide on a fast left-hand bend, the right-hand rear wheel of Galli’s Ford Focus collided with a rock, damaging the trailing arm.

Back in the service area the team discovered that the broken trailing arm had damaged to the rear section of the roll cage and a decision was made by the FIA and the team to retire the car from the event on safety grounds.

“I am very disappointed,” said Galli. “It was just so silly because everything was feeling good and I felt like I was set up well for the corner. The first two stages today were okay I actually didn’t really expect to get such good times because we were taking no risks and just driving sensibly and everything, the car, tyres and setup, was all perfect. It is a shame because I only got to drive about 60 kilometres on gravel and with the new tyres but the experience will help me when we go to Argentina for the next round.”

Nice pic (the only "nice" thing in this disaster !)

heh, and Mikko's explanations about road position...

Well each and every one has a right to their own thoughts...but this is what Mikko really "explains" giving all credict to JML

"It's annoying when your young team-mate is beating you,” said Hirvonen. “And it wasn't the car or my road position that was the reason why Jari-Matti is so far ahead of me. He's driven very well. The time gap between myself and Loeb is what I expected but the difference to Jari-Matti is far more than I thought. I need to find more speed tomorrow. This morning's conditions were as I expected. It was difficult in the braking areas and the loose gravel meant there was no traction accelerating out of the bends."

I get a deja vu feeling of the 200o season. Marcus Gronholm won his first rally, and wins the championship, as an uotsider with little in the past that really indicated that he would be champion player. Latvalla had a troubled past, with more crashes than points, and he got matured in the last half of last year and suddenly is the main competor for Loeb and Hirvonen.
