Rules for 1987 World Rally Championship for drivers?

I've read that, in order to be classified in 1987 World Rally Championship for drivers, every works driver had to have at least 1 start on a non-European rally.
However, Jean Ragnotti (a works Renault driver) was classified 5th in the Drivers' Championship with 51 points, having competed on Monte, Portugal, Corsica, Acropolis and San Remo. Not one outside Europe.

The same goes for his team-mate Francois Chatriot, as well, classified 13th, with 22 points.

Were Renault team excepted from that rule,or what?
Does anyone know anything more about that?

    Thanks!

According to Martin Holmes' explanation of "points rules" for WRC 1987 driver had to copete at least once to became the World Champion. There is nothing about dividing drivers as "works" and "non-works" ones and applying them different rules. But participants of Production Car Cup (group N) to be classified were obliged to take part at least one outside Europe.

I lost few words and it makes my answer has no sence:

In the final results of 1987, Jean Ragnotti (5th) is considered as NP (no points) in some books and the same for Chatriot. Probably, your final results includes Ragnotti, Chatriot and some more elses (Béguin, Salonen, Loubet, Saby, Auriol...) but they must not be in an official classement.
In the constructors classement, Renault figures in third place according with the points it gets with the local 18 GTX in Argentina Rally

Interesting point this. It's the first time I've heard about this rule, and as Janusz has already mentioned Martin Holmes doesn't say anything about it in World Rallying. When I'm home I'll check some other books, but I don't remember seeing this rule before. What is your source?

    Hi kabouter!
It's been a while since I last heard from you!

Well, like janusz said, it looks like it was a one non-European start required in order to became a Drivers' world champion, and not to be eligible to be classified in the championship, as it says on jonkka's site, here, in the note in the top right corner:
