    Mikkelsen was again fast on the small road. Only Lappi was a tenth quicker

    A stage with a Citroen 1-2 ... who would've predict that.

    And Ogier is using the upgraded front axel and Lappi isnt. Just shows a lot is personal preference or even psychological.

    Definitely, confidence is a huge factor so whatever setup makes the driver confident is probably more important than the theoretical performance potential of the setup.

    I think it was Colin McRae once said that the difference between the top 5 or so drivers on any given day was 95% confidence.

    Confidence matters little on slow technical sections, but trusting it will stick makes a huge difference on fast flowing sections or jumps.
