How about the one I asked last week....

There are three mountains on Earth that can quite correctly claim to be the highest mountain in the World. What are they and how can each of them stake this claim?

Everest - the highest point above mean sea level
Mt Kilimanjaro which is the highest above the surrounding land
The one in Ecuador which is furthest from the centre of the earth (It's further than Everest because of the earth's bulge at the equator)
The Pacific island which is the greatest height from base to peak.
Can't name the last two without looking them up

Mauna Kea

Correct Storm. The Hawaiian island of Mauna Kea. It's peak is 4000+ metres above sea level, but it's base is 6000 metres blow sea level giving it a height of 10000 metres a full 1.4 kms more than everest
