But Loeb's last gravel win was Argentina back in May.

True but can't NZ be considered as a Loeb's win too?

Just right. Asphalt was the key. Actually Marcus had two dnf's against Loeb's three so it was not down to reliability.

No, it was Gronholm's brilliant victory.

Anyway, both are great champions. The quantity of titles doesn't count. What makes diffrence is that both are just great. Hope, Mikko can continue next year like in GB. He was dominant on last two gravel rallies and also quite stong on asphalt - much stronger than Gronholm in his early ages.

Just got back from sunny Wales. Latvala's problem on stage 6 was broken windsceen wiper mechanism. He had to stop 5 times to clear the screen. Also Wilson had the very same fault just after that stage. Mathew did a big test before this rally with Mikko. Mikko took him as a passanger and vice versa. And it showed. But think about this. Without penalties Jari-Matti would have won the whole rally!!!

But on Japan he shouldn't have crashed. He'd be the champion by now, even with Ireland retire.
Mikko & JML are worse on tarmac. They need to do alot better on that surface.
