I wondered how long it would be before someone would crack and have a go at me. The peace went on for an un-naturally long time for it to last

I started following the btcc in 2001 properly. My first race meeting was Donington in 2001 and I have been going to see the btcc at least once a year ever since.

I don't really remeber much but it was a good season.
    RIP Colin McRae

I thought the forum only started existing in 2002! Must've got that wrong

I for one think that the retrospective views, especially with the benefit of hindsight, are interesting.

I don't think Mark's comment was aimed at you.

I remember watching the 1st round of 2001 on BBC and thinking 'oh dear'.

I remember being at Brands for the race thinking it just wasn't the same, the split Sprint races was terrible, watching the lack of cars in the Touring race. Then to lose one of the 406's before the next round made it worse.

Fast forward to the last round at Brands and it felt completely different, I will never forget sitting in the grandstand in the driving rain watching the last race, amazing stuff!
Jim Raynor will be returning soon!

I wasn't surprised after how 2000 had gone with the small grids. Can't remember the crowd's faces, I was too busy having a good time.

    2) Were you optimistic for the future, or did you think this could be a slow death for the Country's best tin-top championship?
    Optimistic.

    3) When they started changing the rules, such as the delayed start for the production cars, what was your opinion?
    Very confusing!

    4) At the end of the year, what did you think for the future of the BTCC?
The future looked bright with MG, Honda and Proton coming in and stories of other teams buying or building cars.

    5) Any other comments?
    Yvan was robbed. :
    You lot still here?!
