Please do remind me what kind of disaster it was.
I went through drivers' reaction during the event and nothing special was reported, they all dealt with it just fine.

Of course nobody want to go against FIA or any authority. But internally there was big discussion about it before the race and also during. Everything is about GPS technology, which was never projected to measure the speed. So there were lot of issues, unit not showing speed properly, some driver were braking two times as first one was not identified etc. And as you can see, no penalty was finally applied. And from "outside" of the car, it looks really strange when in straight part, where you should feel the speed and there is no obstacle, cars are suddenly extremely slowing down "for nothing".

Your 1955 comment suggests you don’t know the history of rallying….
Each to their own I guess, I just don't see the advantage and don't really see the problem people have with chicanes, after all rallying was never about equal conditions.

The driving test comment was obviously tongue in cheek, but please enlighten me what I should know.

Very important that they mark properly where that is also for spectators in maps, don't do like Sweden "Here's a military area, but we won't tell anyone why you can't go there"
