    Smashing trophies

    40,000 quid .
    Really ?
    Each ?
There were 4 of them , and they took 4 months to make .

While I would refuse to make pink Barbie trophies , I would be happy to produce them for half of that .

I would make them some real smashing trophies .

Yeah, I managed to step away and missed that, but Max seemed to take it well. I guess it saves him some money on trophy display areas, unless RB gets to keep them all.

And that does seem really pricey, but they have to prove how elitist they are while claiming to try to help the world with green progress and tech.

I remember your old FGP trophies. Got any photos of them still by any chance?

I actually like those trophies and was dismayed when one was broken. Very disrespectful and I was glad to read that Max will visit the site where they are made.

I wonder how long before Lando pings that cork into someone's eye?

I have watched a couple of these opens and they were all on the edge of control and safety.

Not wanting to be a spoil sport but the offending trophy cork missed his forehead by less than a foot - too close.

The smashing of the trophy is sort of symbolic of how bad this and the previous season has been from a championship competition standpoint. It has been sh*t but we remain entertained by the midfield where Yuki, Albon, Zhou, and the Haas driver have been the stars of the season from my perspective. There was always the entertainment factor of the inter-team crashes of the Alpine drivers.

Even the Hamilton years had close challenges from inside the team and from other teams like Ferrari and Redbull who occasionally won races on merit. Schumacher had Hill, Alonso and Hakkenen to contend with. All of which won titles from Schumacher. What we have now is a runaway train that is Verstappen with collateral drivers in tow. It is essentially the anti-thesis of F1 at its very core.

The season simply says to me that the Red Bull car is super and a marvel of F1 engineering. It does not say much about Vderstappen's ability to win the championship under an immense battle for the championship, where championship points are close and the competition is just as fast on race day. I sort of hoped that would happen this year but it turn out to be a bust. Mercedes turned up without having a clue about the true nature of the competition to expect for the 2023 season. Ferrari appears to be in a state of permanent confusion internally.

Aston Martin started the season with a startling step forward that promised to cause an upset but fizzled away as we approached mid-season.

How bad the season have been is reflected by the very very low turnout at forums. People are simply not finding anything interesting to say about these sorts of seasons. No upsets, no drama, no twist of faith that results in delightful surprises, and no wheel-to-wheel action to the finish line for the win of races. It is simply flat and uninteresting. Yes, records are being broken but where is the edge of seat action that we enjoyed in the pre-2022 regulation era?
