    First entries.

I really hope this year we reach about 40 Rally 2 in Gran Canaria.

The Gran Canaria event already has close to a dozen international teams that have completed their registration. Among them is the Finn Mikko Heikkilä, the sensation of the first round of the year in the FIA European Rally Championship.

The 47 Rally Islas Canarias opened its entries period at the beginning of March and, after a few weeks, there are already several teams that have confirmed their participation. Between them, and in the absence of speeding up this process, there are already close to a dozen international squads that will be in Gran Canaria during the first week of next May.

Mikko Heikkilä, who was one step away from winning the first round of the 2023 FIA European Rally Championship, will visit the Rally Islas Canarias for the first time. The sensation of that first event of the year has accepted the challenge of the asphalt to continue measuring himself against the rest of the rivals of the continental contest.

With the Citroën C3 Rally2 that she already used last year, the Italian Rachele Somaschini returns to Gran Canaria to continue enjoying and competing on some stages that she liked. The Hungarian Martin Laszlo is also entered with a Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, while the Latvian Martins Sesks confirms the debut in the Canary Islands of the new Skoda Fabia RS Rally2.

With vehicles from the Rally4 category, the Italians Roberto Daprá (Peugeot 208) and Alessandro Grillo (Renault Clio) are also entered, as well as the German Norman Kreuter (Peugeot 208).

It expects about 25 abroad crews, 10 national (Spain) crews and 5 regional (Canary Island) with Rally 2 machines.

Am I wrong with abroad teams, @PLuto?

We will see who will really start in Canarias. Calendars are very unfriendly this year. Two weeks before is Croatia (so who will do Croatia must almost directly go to Huelva to be in time for boat), just week after Canarias is WRC Portugal (so teams starting in Canarias needs to go directly to Porto and hope that boat will not be delayed to match the scrutineering) and week after is ERC Poland... Very bad for logistics for the team (also dont forget, that some teams are renting cars to different drivers in different championships).
