As can be seen from the image we publish and which you can find below, there is a cut that starts from the shoulder, passes through the edge and reaches the tread. This suggests not so much a puncture resulting from an external body, but a possible impact of significant entity against one of the many curbs that delimited the special narrows of the Rally of Japan."

"Ogier complained that he saw no damage to the rim, but from the photograph it is clear which part of the tire he collided with, creating an almost 20cm groove in the tire which led to deflation."

The top 3 in the world rankings, therefore Kalle Rovanpera, Ott Tanak and Thierry Neuville, despite having taken part in all 13 rallies of the season, had almost half of the punctures suffered by Ogier in just 6 events. A curious fact, which however suggests a more problematic adaptation of Sébastien to Italian roofing than his colleagues and direct rivals.

    I can't open the pictures.

im not protecting Ogier here, but Estonian rally podcast made a calculation about the punctures.

total of 69 punctures this year, Gus had the most with 12, Tänak and Rovanperä 6 for example.

Last full season with Michelin in 2019, there was 44 punctures, so quite a difference i would say, 2 punctures per rally less.

The worst rally was Croatia with 15 punctures this year, in 2019 worst was Turkey with 7 punctures.

Quite a difference between the cars as well. Much more hp/torque and car weight.

At safari they said one team had 50!! broken rims (tires obviously stronger than rims).

If you want to compare with Michelin you need to use 2021.Still it won't be quite fair when it was Pirellis first season since ages.

Ogier is correct, it's not good enough from Pirelli. Especially on tarmac.

Just because some don't like his moaning or attitude/general personality, doesn't take away from that fact.

imho the right compare must be with each driver, and not the total punctures.
Maybe for example 2 drivers have the 50% of punctures, and all the other drivers have a usual ammount of punctures.

Solution is a two tire manufacturers. Then there will be competition. If you have only one manufacturer you got what you get with tires. Pirelli can make any tire they want.

Typical that Ogier's onboard is not up for that stage, saw Evans hook into one of the drains and it pulled the car quite violent
