The New Zealand 2022 'gravel rashers' season started for some with the Golden 1200 Hill Climb. Won again by Paddon with the I20 AP4+ hot rodded for the event.

It is expected there will be a few new cars making appearances for NZ rally scene in 2022.

Round 1 - Otago Rally is on.

A mix of R5 and AP 4 cars lined up. Local operation Brand support for Paddon - Hyundai, Hunt - Skoda Fabia Evo2, Jack Hawkeswood - GR Toyota, Robbie Stokes - Ford.

Stage 7 cancelled due to loose cattle stop/ grate on the road being loose. Usually steel slats over a shallow pit.

Overall result

1. Paddon (in the long used AP4 Hyundai i20) 2. Hunt - first rally in a left hand drive (in the fresh Skoda Fabia Rally 2 Evo) 3. Horan in the Skoda Fabia R5 (has an Fabia Evo back in the garage to be used later)

Van Klink has track tested a new tarmac spec quad rotor Mazda RX8 at the South Island Ruapuna race track. The car's first event is the 5 day NZ Targa starting from New Plymouth in late May with 750km of tarmac stages.
