I had wondered this too, but still surprised it wasn't discovered in testing.

I'm sure he could be/ could have been a multiple champion. However he seems wedded to Hyundai so I doubt that changes + Kalle is now ready to take over from Ogier it seems....

Have to say though, that 2017 was his fault. God awful mistakes on the first 2 events while leading comfortably

    .
tyre is a compromise, depents where you want to give advantage performance/reliability.
Also dont forget that pirelli had for years the most robust gravel tyre. So they have some knowledge about it.
Also dont forget about corona virus when tyre was developed and in such short time, and that these generation wrc are the fastest and much more powerfull from previous generations.
And yes mistakes can happen, even to spaceships, not just a black round rubber.

car designers dont know when they design the car how strength will have a tyre will be produced much later.

If Pirelli can't handle having the monopoly in F1 and WRC they should decide which one to focus on and bin the other motorsport off.

They are an absolute disgrace here in wrc atm. Greensmith summed it up there..., how the f*ck can you get a puncture in a super special when you do nothing wrong.

Seems that Hyundai is like some kind of secret military factory. None of drivers does not explain their technical troubles

But when there is no competition they should focus on reliability surely?

I'm not blaming Pirelli particularly, maybe it wouldn't be much different with Michelin but the current situation isn't good for drivers, fans or Pirelli themselves who don't get any publicity from beating the competition but get lots from multiple punctures.

In this year's 4 events, Neuville has repaired his car more than his mechanics did...
