WRC3 seems like the easiest option this year to call yourself a World Champion in Rally!
I am guessing it will be much harder next year, when people have more cars to choose from, and drivers have seen that this is a cool class not only for juniors!

Theoretically only the driver, co-driver and manufacturer get to be World Champions. WRC2, WRC3 and JWRC winners are just Champions.

Remember that back in 2018 WRC3 was contested on FWD cars and similarly as now, JWRC was run with the same cars (when you participated in JWRC, you also got WRC3 points). For the most part only 1-3 non-JWRC cars started. So essentially we've come a full circle back to that after having no support champinoship for cheaper cars than Rally2 for three years. However, I hope we will see more cars later in the year, since the Rally3 is a great car for a privateer.

There is European finals of FIA Rally Star this weekend. Five drivers will get starts with Rally3 in regional rounds in 2023, four of them will start in 2024' WRC3.

Same apply for all five regions.

12 Rally3 cars will compete in Croatia. Suddenly Ford tops with 26 cars, and only 3 RC2 cars of those.

Hoping for a cracking battle in WRC3 on Asphalt.

Nice competition in wrc3 in Croatia.

Some times for certain stages was very good, and promises good fights for the best drivers in championship!
some drivers still learning the car, and M-Sport are collecting a lot og data after this one!

Quick update after Round 4/3 Portugal.

    WRC3 Open: 1.Sami Pajari, 2.Lauri Joona, 3.Enrico Brazzoli.

WRC3 Junior WRC: 1.Jon Armstrong, 2.Lauri Joona, 3. Sami Pajari.

If WRC3 Junior WRC was included in WRC3 'Open' like in the past and current WRC2 arrangement:
WRC3 Unofficial: 1. Lauri Joona, 2. Sami Pajari, 3. Jon Armstrong.

    WRC3 Teams: 1=. Sami Pajari, 1=.M-Sport Racing KFT 2=.Enrico Brazzoli 2=.Lauri Joona.

Just saw somewhere that the prize for the winner of Junior WRC-3 is 4 drives in the Fiesta Rally2: this is really weak if true; half of the season in the weakest Rally2 car, doesn’t sound like a good prize for me.
Including the fact that the cost of a Rally3 JWRC campaign is 25% higher than the Rally4 era, I’m not sure we will see an increase in the number of drivers in JWRC in the future.
For me, sounds interesting only if the JWRC campaign is already a prize drive (like the winner of the ERC4 Junior championship).

The fact that Pajari will use a Toksport’s Rally2 Skoda in Sardinia is quite relevant.
Maybe it’s to avoid a Bergkvist-like move when they gave a Rally car for the JWRC winner but I’m not really convinced for a young driver, except one very short of budget that won the JWRC campaign as a prize of a lower category.
A pity because the car is rather good looking at the times.
