2021 - Race 16 Turkey
Race 16 with 2 points separating the top 2. Hopefully, the race drama can continue all the way to the end.
From what I have been to dig out - the Bottas engine change was not about Mercedes trying to disrupt Max. I'm sure if it had been disruptive it would have been a nice bonus.
Mercedes wanted to take one of Botta's engines back and tear it down and do a durability check. I think Mercedes is working hard to try and determine whether they really need to bring another engine forward to Hamilton. So they are inspecting the critical components and seeing if the wear is more or less than predicted.Last edited by F1nKS; 30th September 2021 at 14:21.

Hamilton and Merc looked very good this weekend so far. Pundits had penciled in Turkey as Red Bull track, but they were very clearly slower. I won't be surprised if Hamilton wins.

He's a master at those kinds of track conditions without doubt. He looked really solid.
They have the pace for sure. I wouldn't at all be surprised if Lewis can get by Max before the race end. Of course that assumes that he can carve through the rest of frontrunners quickly, but it seems he should be able to.
The changing track really livened up qually some. Lots of cars twitching, spinning, or otherwise off track, including the frontrunners. Lewis coming through the pack should liven things up for the race, as well as the unknowns of how the other teams will handle race pace. Both Bottas and Perez can have a big impact on the points hauls and strategy for the race as well. I'm glad to see the track having so much more grip, and it looks like it will stay dry and continue getting better through the race.

Again , another questionable call from the mighty Merc crew .
I've even seen the words "pathetic" and "idiotic" being used to describe the move .
Meanwhile , in the quiet background , Bottas takes the win , and keeps the constructors championship secure for the completely incompetent , pathetic and idiotic mighty Merc crew .
And , Lewis and Max are still really close with hardly space for a fish between them .

When I woke up and saw the wet track - I was excited for what I thought would be another exciting race - but it was a pretty pedestrian race except for the Hamilton-Perez fight.
Yuki gets an honorable mention and is trying to win RBR hearts with his spirited defense against Hamilton. Gasly pretty much just pulled over for Hamilton.
I think the moisture actually hurt Hamilton. It actually seemed to equalize things instead of magnifying the Mercedes/Hamilton dominance.
I really thought RBR was stupid for bringing in Perez and giving up the place to Hamilton, but in the end, it looks like RBR was correct on strategy.Last edited by F1nKS; 10th October 2021 at 17:39.
