He will have to get to the end of that long way in 3 months. In monte carlo he will need to have the pace to beat at least greensmith and katsuta.

indeed. it still baffles me that at such a high level, with so much money involved, with so much at stake, such a stupid decision can be made.

I know we have another rally after this, but even watching these cars on WRC+ All Live running on tarmac spec, I have to say, I'm really gonna miss these beautiful, magnificent machines. It seems like only yesterday we got them at the start line in Monte-Carlo and now we have to say goodbye to them. To add insult to injury, we have for a second year running a half circuit based event, instead of going out in proper style for ex. Wales Rally GB/Rally Ireland/Canary Island/etc. I sincerely hope this won't become a routine in the WRC discipline to end the season like this.
Only you know your true potential.

I'd be surprised if they gave that rally to Oliver, especially after Dani did this event this year (after 3 years of not doing it).

Nice to see that everyone here on the forum is interested in Oliver. Oliver did the job and disciplined one of the asphalt experts who is also a "newcomer" and did a perfect rally, They both did what we hoped for ;-)

So that was my fifth visit of RallyRACC since 2012. I have arrived on Saturday morning and had met Kris Meeke on the airport accidentally.
Had a quick chat and a photo. The rally week had started nicely.
We were able to watch the shakedown and the seremonial start on Thursday, SS1 and SS4 ( Vilaplana) on Friday, and SS 9 ( El Montmell ) and SS 11 ( Querol ) on Saturday.

Shakedown - we were watching near the roundabout, changing the spot 3-4 times, there was a lot of people and nice atmosphere.

On Friday the plan was to go to SS1 near the hairpins on the downhill section. There was a big surprise when the police stop us 10 km before the stage on the access road and tell us we have to walk from there. So we have to turn around and to go to an alternative spot. We
were able to reach the stage just 5 min. before the first car. On the second pass we were watching on very fast left corner on downhill section and it was incredible how the top guys were passing. Evans, Neuville and Sordo were extremely neat and fast, Greensmith and Solberg were a bit unstable on the exit but the cars are awesome to watch with all the aero on such fast corners.

On Saturday the first stage for us was El Montmell - fast left corner to flat left and following a long straight. Solberg was very committed and Sunninen also was showing that he started to fell comfortable in the car. Of course all top guys were very spectacular to watch.
Neuville's fan club was also on that spot with Neuville's father and brother.
For the second pass we switched to Querol stage to a hairpin near the end of the concrete section. Easy accessible spot to end the rally as we have to drive back to Barcelona later in the day. Nothing incredible there, but not a bad place to watch for a change after the fast spots on previous day.

Looking forward now for the new generation Rally1 cars and hope to watch them live next year somewhere.
