Comparison of Qualifying Time (2021 vs 2020)

First chart is delta between 2020 and 2021. McClaren actually probably has been hit the least so far.

Other thing you see, the amount of time is track dependent.

The second chart is the average qualifying time. You can see the hit racing point took. They had went to 3rd best to 6th.

There are now 7 comparable races. The last 2 races, Red Bull has taken a hit. Rumbles are saying that the FIA put out a directive to engine manufacturers that provided clarification on energy recovery systems. This caused Honda to have to make changes that is costing Red Bull 0.4 to 0.5 seconds.

first plot shows changes in qualification for each of the 7 races. 2nd plot shows average aggregate qualification time for all seven race.

On average Mercedes and Red Bull are on par, but in reality Mercedes have the upper hand.
