Last year I would probably chosen as Kristensson, gone for Rally2, because of few other Rally3 cars in WRC and no titel to fight for under the WRC umbrella.
This year I am not sure.
If you are able to get sponsorship for a 5 round program, for the parts you do not get from M-Sport you own a Rally2 car afterwards. But it is hard to shine in a Fiesta Mk2.
It seems easier to shine as a driver in next years WRC3 in a Rally3 Fiesta, but after the free season, you are left with no hardware, apart from a diploma.
What would you have chosen?
Your options as a JWRC Champion in 2021:
OPTION 1
The biggest prize in Option 1 prize is the M-Sport Eco- Boost-powered Ford Fiesta Rally2 car. The winner will be given outright ownership of this astonishing car together with free WRC 2 registration from the FIA and five free WRC 2 entries for the 2022 FIA World Rally Championship.
Pirelli will continue to support the 2021 champion with 200 tyres to use throughout the 2022 season in WRC 2 events. To guarantee progression in the WRC, the ownership of the Ford Fiesta Rally2 is conditional on competing in a minimum of five WRC events in 2022.
OPTION 2
Prize drives in the all-new M-Sport Poland Ford Fiesta Rally3 – a route of natural progression for a graduating Rally4 star ready to take on the power of an all-wheel drive rally thoroughbred.
The 2021 FIA Junior WRC can choose five fully funded drives on selected WRC rallies in 2022 including re- gistration for WRC’s Rally3 category championship. The prize package is fully supported by M-Sport, Pirelli, WRC Promoter and the FIA, allowing the 2021 champion to step up, in terms of machinery, while also developing their road-knowledge of WRC events.

No one
More seriously, it is difficult to obtain budget in rally so it helps but between the Fiesta Rally2 which is maybe the worst Rally2 car and the Rally3 category which I think will failed, I’m not really optimistic for the winner.
Personally, I would take the Rally2 car as I think Rally3 will fail but he may also depend on your budget as the Rally2 season is not fully funded so you have to find some sponsorship to complement.. And then, you can sell the car to help to finance a season or to at least, having the car helps you in terms of budget.
Still for Jon Armstrong (who is favorite I think this weekend), it is better than nothing when we see that he did only 3 rallyes between 2018 and 2020.Last edited by Danny0405; 15th October 2021 at 08:38.
you do realize that the power form the hybrid unit is not constant... It's there only for very short periods. So for a first time out it won't make a big differance
