Well I used to be totally against having it at the top, but when I'm at work having to look at a window about half an inch high it's easier to look at it the other way

I liked on the side, more easily to browse through millions and millions of posts looking for certain names.

Voted top and I seem to be in the minority. Ideally it should be configurable for each user in their profile.
