Can someone explain to me why the penalty for early check in is so harsh? Rules are rules, but in this case the punishment does not seem to fit the 'crime'

Mistakes happen and there should be a penalty but to completely to ruin someones rally for this feels wrong.

It is tough when a simple co-driver timing error can potentially cost a driver a rally and even a championship. No wonder Lukyanuk was so angry.

Seems he calmed down later and realised he owed it to his sponsors to make the best of the situation which is still quite strong vs Solberg.

Very solid performance from Mikkelsen indeed. Hasn't lost his speed and he was very consistent at the same time, didn't expect him to do this well.
