    WRC Aero Development

Seems like Aero development is moving ahead with numerous small items on cars to improve it, in addition to the big wings. Same as we have seen in other forms of motorsport.

All to bring cornering speeds up and up.
At some stage this will become a safety issue, both for car crew, but also for spectators.

It is also a lot of money spent for the teams, to gain a few seconds.

Wondering what FIA has to say to this trend, and if it will become a limiting point in the new regulations for Rally 1 cars?'

What is the forums feelings on this subject?

I don't wish to be a killjoy because these cars are really spectacular but I had pretty much the same thoughts after watching the amateur videos from Sweden.

Parts which used to be corners they just seem to keep the throttle pretty much mashed to the floor nowadays..

Also, anyone know what the rules are for aero development? Do they have a certain number of jokers they can use per year for aero or can they constantly update a la F1?

I have said this allready when new rules were introduced and will say it again: the aero and high cornering speed makes it so dangerous, as crashes happen in much higher speeds. Also makes it more boring, less slides as aero only works when cars are straight.

They should go for R5 type aero, also limit suspension travel. To make rallying safer and more spectacular

Less travel, R5 aero and the same WRC engine is definitely not going to make it safer, everyone is saying how much more stable the WRC is compared to R5 at high speeds. They still slide and i think it's the best It's ever been, some people are filming only flat places these days but medium speed corners are even more impressive sometimes i think.

Good interview, for me the most interesting part was him talking about the 2017 Polo...haven’t heard any of the drivers talk about it before.
