if yes, imho he will not have problem.Problem from North drivers is asphalt.
And at asphalt he was pretty good straight away.
For example Kalle has said about his WRC progress that he's doing fine on the fast stuff but still struggles on technical sections.

A technical gravel rally also includes things like tyre management, driving in ruts, watching out for stones etc. which are all new things in addition to finding the right pace and technique for slower corners and narrower roads.

Historically we saw slow drivers doing well in slow rallies, being nobodies when it matters on fast stages.

So for me, slow rallies doesn´t prove anything about how good drivers are...

    Watching out for stones...? really?

I didn't remember Pontus Tidemand was exceptionally good on slow rallies

    Who said exceptionally?

I think what you in trying to meet up my quote is that PT was slow in fast rallies... And even that is wrong.

And last I was speaking generally. I give you proper examples if you want.

so, rallying week finally. the interest seems kinda low after that long break we had with COVID, or is it just me?

Dont know how the weather exactly will be but i guess it isnt has hot as in June.

Speaking about favourites then 4 previous winners are all in Hyundai this year. Tänak has always been very strong on this event and won in 2017, its one of his favourites too, Sordo has a good starting position again and we all remember that epic battle and win for Thierry in 2018 over Ogier, he won also in 2016.

Evans is sweeping this time, last year Ogier was first on the road but he crashed into that big rock on SS4, before that he was already 27 secs down from the leader. After that Tänak was first on the road for the whole day and he ended up being 3rd at the end of the day, just 11 secs down from Sordo but watching the results it seems the first two stages were very bad for the frontrunners, after that not so much. On Saturday Tänak won all 6 stages and we all know what happened on Sunday on the last stage.

Well, anyway, Thierry has won this event 2 times past 5 years and he has a good starting position too. Ogier won this event back in 2015 the last time and second starting position isnt also the best on first day. Tänak has a decent starting position and has been always very strong here. Evans just needs to mind his own business to collect some points but the three guys, Neuville, Ogier and Tänak definitely will go for a win.

Who wins? i have no idea, Thierry should be the strongest candidate but as we saw last time there can be a lot of surprises.

You said it all, Neuville and Sordo are really the top favourites. In the past we've seen drivers like Eric Camilli and Kevin Abbring post their maiden stage wins because of a good starting position, could we see Katsuta do the same now?

Then, it's also possible it will rain...the forecasts right now are only giving small random rains here and there throughout the week, but we know it could change quickly.

It is not just you. I also find the interest very low. I though that people will get crazy when rallyling returns after the long break.
Or maybe this is what discouraged people from the forum:
