Not much to fight for in this rally anymore. Maybe 3rd if Suninen can respond after lunch but Mikkelsen is fast
Dunno why Becs is getting so excited by Lappi being up on Ogier on the splits. Seb will be on cruise mode knowing he has the win if he stays out of trouble - he doesnt need to drive near 100% as Lappi will give him the win anywayLast edited by er88; 14th September 2019 at 09:04.

Well, it's a complete no-brainer really to do the switch, win or not, no need to even think twice about it. If you would start to feel very bad about doing this kind of simple team order decisions it would be the time to quit WRC team bossing.
And if Lappi will keep it clean to the finish he will have done a huge job anyway and probably the best WRC event in his whole career, even if it won't be a win on the paper. So far I rate this performance higher than 2017 Finland. His performance yesterday on SS6 was absolutely huge, incredible from that road position and showing that magic talent that has always been hiding there underneath. This is an especially big performance for Lappi because lately it has threateningly looked like he can only be quick on the fast stuff and completely lost in the slower events. Now he just needs to sort out his tarmac driving and iron it all in general so that he is able to keep it all together for three days without mistakes.
Shame for Tänak, but the fragile Toyota has been pretty much the only thing keeping this Championship alive for us from day one. I like that the Championship stays tight, but you gotta be honest, Tänak is the benchmark and the driver of the moment. Whether or not he wins the Championship this year is irrelevant to that question. Still, I'm not sure if I would put Tänak ahead of Ogier yet as a complete package, that's debatable...but when we are talking about pure speed then there is no competition. In that category Tänak is the most impressive driver for me in a very long time, you really have to go way back to see something as impressive. And the killer instinct the guy has is just awesome. Yeah...he really seems like a bit of a dick sometimes but for some reason I accept that in the really top drivers, when they know they are the best and show it. Ogier and Neuville clearly have the same cockiness.
And talking about Neuville it all just seems like a bit of a déjà vu. I adore the guy's driving style, it's really poetry in motion when he goes into his tyre management mode in the long loops and you can see that he really drives the car like it should be driven, no energy wasted, it all looks nicely controlled and well thought out. He seems to drive with his head. But how do these random things just keep happening to him whenever the season arrives to the final few events? It's starting to get bizarre.Last edited by AnttiK7; 14th September 2019 at 09:52.

Got back to the Tanak interview. He actually said that he turned the car off and started it again in a refuel that was 5 km before the spot where he couldn't start it.
