Just to clarify situation with Lukyanuk's speeding regarding to opinions "he should have been penalized by driver licence deprivation" (don't mix it up with exclusion from rally). Driver license could be deprived only by public power act. In Latvian law (as in other European countries I suppose) one and only proof of speeding is measurements made by police with certificated devices/speed cameras. And vice versa - court doesn't not recognize as evidence any others measurements (private persons on-board cameras, cars gps-tracking systems, etc) made by non-police/official speed cameras. So if Lukyanuk were caught by police his rally would be ended right now - +51km/h speeding is penalized by taking driver license away immediately (decision about final penalty is made after that).
About rally itself. Deserved victory for Solberg junior. It was obvious that VW Polo R5 in decent driver hands are most powerful R5 and Oliver know how to use it. His driving style is very similar to his father style - aggressive one, throwing car in sideways in bends exit. In other hand I must admit that Kalle Rovanpera at that stage (first races on R5) made way more impression on me. Lukyanuk seemed to me switched to result delivering mode. In some way it was nice surprise - turns out he can be precise, smooth with precise lines and nice rhythm. There were no signs of his usual flamboyant style. There were others spectacular Citroen's - Adielsson and Arai. Solid and mature drive for Ingram. Good debut for Mārtiņš Sesks on R5. No wow effect just very solid drive just how it should be on home ground.
