Actually this time he was probably lucky because he had a puncture.

I thought it might be that. And (I think) JML did slow down, and later Sordo complained about getting no warning that Lappi was in the road. If so, it wasn't ideal but it wasn't completely foolish either. And it's not the end of the world -- only JML was affected, and they can give him a notional time.

[It's very important that they do give him a notional time, because otherwise drivers will have a reason to ignore manual red flags in future.]

everybody quite relaxed in the media zone...Ogier said it was a one wheel moment in the morning and he thought they will roll! Ott said they had brake problems in the morning after watersplashes and they discovered the driveshaft problem already after SS7 and it was just a matter of time when it breaks completely.

All I see in that Lappi onboard is wrong line over the small crest. He drove the first pass with puncture at that point so didn't know what it was like over there at full speed.

Absolutely exhausted after day one! We went to Santa Rosa-San Agustin for both runs, sitting right at the first corner on the first one and on the left right corners at the end of the straight past the first water splash. Tanak looked consistently fastest all day; Latvala, as always, the biggest crowd pleaser; all the other drivers looked fairly clean, except for Mikkelsen who chucked a huge stone at my head (luckily the visor on my cap, and my hand, deflected the impact) and Suninen who had a wild ride over the watersplash.

The stage was fuuuuull of drunk Argentines, and I had the pleasure of meeting a group of Bolivians going specifically to see Marco Bulacia, and I saw who are likely the only three Estonians in Cordoba again, with their signed Estonian flags

Those three pics are from SS7 and Tanak's massive run through that bit. He and Mikkelsen were the only ones who chucked stones and dirt at us in that place.

(And maybe it looks unsafe, but every safety car met us with thumbs up. If it was good enough for Mouton, I suppose it wasn't so bad).
