I don't want to get into this discussion, but if you want to know more about Teemu Suninen and his personality, watch this youtube-documentary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qI4LOGjImd8

Sometimes there might be a relation between driver's nationality and audience nationality, how interesting audience finds some particular driver, but I could believe in most cases it is not defining. In Finland Suninen could be higherly rated character than Al-Qassimi or Bertelli. Then if you ask from Italians or UAE it might be the different case, but who knows. Yet drivers who aren't driving full season are often without pressure to behave according to team instructions, and because of the costs of WRC these drivers nowadays often present something different. These might increase WRC interest also in other groups than just hardcore rally fans (with some of them naturally included) and that is why it would be important for WRC to give some screen time and interviews for them as well.

Sorry mate, but you’ve completely missed the rally spirit. In our sport drivers popularity cames from the magic moments they provide behind the whell of a car on a rally road. No one really cares about their PR skills in front of a camera or a microphone. Once they’ve proved to be talented, brave and fast on a SS they will always be respected by the fans, no matter how dull they may look on an interview.
PS: who’s the blondie, dimviii?Rally addict since 1982

Following may sound provocative but that is not the purpose: If in the other words you would be saying that in your opinion, mainly driver input inside the car matters to drivers popularity, then let say that when having equally good drivers - does it matter who the driver is? For example would you be as satisfied whom wins, or would rallying become less interesting if drivers would be anonymous or driven by AI as long as rally driving would remain spectacular? I believe for many the same factors are highly important as what you mentioned, the priority in tight competition and brave driving, but e.g. when you have multiple equally spectacular drivers, people start to have favourites where distinction between the drivers is made from drivers actions, presence and character outside of the car. For sure if you are absolutely the best in car then it matters less what you are outside of the car, except financial side.

It's OK, it's a short stage! Remember the FIA and promoter reserve the right to completely fuck over everything we all know, enjoy and understand about this series and sport. Or, maybe they might...
