Rally Team UK
Big story in MN today about a new initiative to support young British drivers including backing for Chris Ingram and Rhys Yates in WRC2 and also a two car BRC team amongst other plans. Was anyone at Autosports at the weekend and got any more news? Will be great news if its a proper backed scheme as we have seen one or two other initiatives fall flat for lack of funds in the past.

Funnily enough I (over)heard a surprising amount of talk about this on the floor, surprising because I was just a fan hanging around! There was a guy working the floor talking to all sorts of people, talking up what I guess was 'Rally Team UK', which I'd seen spring up on Twitter. He was introducing himself and/or talking to pretty much every young British driver he came across. Rhys Yates, Tom Williams, Catie Munnings were those I saw and recognised. He had a conversation with Richard Millener and Colin Clark too. From what I heard they're talking big money, £2.5m was mentioned, I presume per year. I also heard something along the lines of 'maybe we'll be running six R5s in future', which I found rather eyebrow-raising!
I think the thing I found most glaringly dubious though was that this guy made it very obvious that he did not like people questioning the funding behind the scheme, which frankly seemed ridiculous. Of course people are going to ask questions or treat this like it's too good to be true. If they're legit they should just look forward to proving the doubters wrong by delivering on their promises. If they do, it'll be incredible for British rallying and I'm sure they'll be widely appreciated. Time will tell...

Hmm, if something is too good to be true - then it usually is. It would be lovely for a scheme to get young British drivers on the ladder. But, where is that money going to come from? And what about the ROI - especially now with no mainstream FTA TV coverage of the WRC.
Is there a better sound than that of Porsche engined Flat-6 ???

Colin Clark talks about 'Rally Team UK' from 18:51 onwards in his latest Kitchen Table video: https://youtu.be/_KaHjRZrGEI?t=1131
Sounds like we might find out more on the Cambrian Rally. Interesting to hear his take on it given what I said about the Autosport show.
