You asked for it. Both Turkey and Germany. Didn't check others. But yeah, 100km is nothing.
Never stop dreaming because one day it might happen.

It just seems a long liaison back to the SP for a 30 minute service and then off again for the afternoon stages.

The Saturday has a remote service in Newtown which makes sense.

I think they are only coming all the way back to Deeside on Friday to give the SP some action during the day.

Do you realize that remote service is only a tyre change zone? The crews won't be able to get the damages fixed or setups changed. They can only service by themselves.

But it's also true that having the cars in the service park is financially an important thing to the organizers.

About pointless liaisons, in Rally Sweden the Karlstad super special is 100 km from the service park, and that liaison is done twice during the rally. (Also 90 km from Vargåsen finish, making it 190 km of liaison at the end of Saturday just for the sake of the super special)

True. Seems that Mexico and Argentina are also quite compact events. Finland could also be, but the popular Saturday stages like Päijälä and Kakaristo are behind a ~100 km liaison.

The Saturday just having a remote tyre-fitting and no service shows the return to the SP in the middle of Friday isnt really necessary.

Yeah, my route calculation was mistakenly from Vargåsen to Karlstad to Torsby. So that is the 190 km distance. Thanks for the correction

I bet the drivers are happy to drive extra 100 km to get their cars serviced. Also, remember that it's about 60 km from Slate Mountain to Clocaenog start. They would still have a long liaison in the middle of the day with service or not.

The organisers can't win really. They got complaints in the previous years that the service park was under utilised for teams/guests etc. Sadly that's a modern consideration of rallying. They are soulless places really I spend as little time at the GB one as possible.
