Northern Hemisphere Summer 2018
I have seen a moderate amount of the media coverage of the 2018 Northern Hemisphere summer.
My sympathies to those who have lost people, pets and property to the various weather events.(fire, flood, heat etc)
Does anyone have any short first hand accounts of what they have witnessed?

I haven't personally been affected by weather. Where I live has. I'm not far from Ellicott City which had the bad flood in May of this year. The river behind our house has come out of the banks many times since we've been here, but this summer was the highest. Fortunately it still didn't get close to the house. That's on top of the similar flood in Ellicott City just two years ago. We are also seeing a lot of TV coverage of the many and large California fires.

Our summer here has been dry up until a short time ago .
I live on clay soil , and the cracks got to about four inches wide , where you'd swear you'd soon be seeing the glow of the center of the earth soon , before it finally did rain .
Local corn is tassled at about three feet tall , with farmers hoping the moisture will continue so cobs will mature .
Not long ago , I had to pull over and wait for a pounding , dime-sized hail storm that lasted roughly twenty minutes , when I was on the way home from the cottage .
Crazy heat , at 36C or worse , and crazy tornado storms when the rain does come .
This is the new norm .
Variety. With 4-5 tarmac rallies in calendar, it's good to have some successor to circuit-like Catalunya. Rally wasn't super interesting but wasn't that bad either, I liked saturday stages more....
