    OK, one Meeke fan's analysis...

In the narrow view, a so-so rally. He was beaten by a few drivers who are generally slower than him, and got nothing from the power stage, but sixth is not terrible. A couple of places higher on Friday, better road position on Saturday, he would have had a shot for the podium and the power stage. Instead he drifted away from that battle.

In the bigger picture, it's quite good. Everybody knows this is not his rally, but he got sixth. He brought home manufacturer points when JML didn't, which will no doubt please the team. And how often do you say "Kris Meeke was one of the few drivers not to go off the road"? He's fourth in the championship, with not-terrible road position for Mexico.

Meeke is doing great so far, if he adjusts himself and does something like Tänak in his DMack WRT year (pushing and magnificent times, when it is comfortable), then i see him grabbing good points, a few podiums and even a win or two. Maybe not suitable to be the leading driver, especially considering his age, but being an "everlasting second" is much more than many or most can achieve.

It's certainly surprising that he was one of the 3 drivers without any snowbank issue, only one stall. Maybe he can finally change. Points also good.

On the other hand he was the driver with biggest speed difference relative to fastest car in the team.(actually to both of them). Even though from the reports he had more test days on snow alone than other teams had for 3 drivers.

Guys Tanak has done more than won the rally imho. He gave us a glimpse of real domination here, the same Loeb, and Ogier after him, have made us accustomed to. If you except the two french I have never seen a driver, not even Neuville or Latvala in his good day, so sure about his skills and dominance over the competition.
Giving that gap in the PS and staying that cool means he has all the means not only to beat others but even himself, which is a very important challenge in WRC, more than others discipline.

On a side note but not less important we are also in front of a new dominance driving style, if with Loeb cleanliness of driving and safeness of corners changed the rally forever, with Tanak we are going to witness a brand new change. Late breaking are a trend again but his monstruous skills allow him to have still full control of the car, clean lines and grip in the exit. And thank god he's not called Sebastien!

Yaris also had a role on this, especially in Sweden where it has always been fast. Let's see in Mexico if they have solved the issues that were limiting their potential last year. It will be fun if they will

At this stage of the season drivers championship points are completely meaningless. It takes only 2 gravel rallies to neutralize point difference difference between Tänak and Ogier (if we assume equal performance level). At that point of season Ogier or Tänak could have zero points and to have equal chance for championship than if other would have 47 points. Big road position advantage in 8-10 rallies equals 47 points.

WRC should change point system because current level of competition is so tight that articial intervention to competition is not needed.

Right... that makes perfect sense for sure.
