Agreed, However, while I'm usually several KM's from the end of the stage, I've seen more and more people around "my" spot as the of the stage gets more and more "arena"-like.

In Finland we also have these large official spectator areas which an be considered as arenas, the most famous of them the Kakaristo junction. For sure it's nice for the casual fan or a tourist, but for the hardcore fans it's better to pick a quieter place in the forest. Like cali said, it's more of a festival, lots of drunk people who don't even care so much for the competition...
Seemingly not, at least it hasn't before, and isn't this year.

This would favour the first car on the road, right? The studs would have a direct contact to the ice, whereas all the next cars would have to deal with various amounts of loose snow/slush on top of the ice?
I'll admit, I don't hope for -8 during Thursday and Friday night... I plan to sleep outside in a hammock, so I would prefer the temperatures to be closer to 0

    Not in Belgium!

    They told me:

I’m really, really sorry for this but we seems to have messed this up a little bit.

I have two solutions to offer by now:

Either we send the package to where you are staying in Sweden

or I’ll add you to the list which allow you to pick them up at any of the Rally-sites from our staff.

    What would you prefer?

Now the forecasts are again giving more plus degrees, for all of Thursday and for the warmest points of Friday and Saturday.

Disclaimer: I'm not afraid they will cancel the rally. It will just affect the conditions. If it's like this then we'll see more gravel on the second runs.

We didn't receive the rally guide either, but called two days ago and apparently it will arrive now on Monday due to an error. Very apologetic, let's see if it arrives.

Does anyone know if the lake near Colin's Crest will be open for cars this year?

Well, beacuse of the thick snowlayer, cold can`t reach the ice/water and it`s quite thin this season. i`d guess no.
