Montoya Fined and Put on Probation

I can think of two separate occasions when Earnhardt did the same thing during a race and both races were less than 12 months apart.

Montoya has already earned $1,2 Millions this season, in NEXTEL Cup, at least. If he's going to earn just 2,5 million, as someone suggest, then he should better go back to f1, any second rate team can improve that.

Mears made more than 7 millions last years, and he was 14th. Add to that a juicy check from Chip.

This year the goal is to be in the chase...

Right, so why wasn't Stewart punished in March, for doing it in anger during a race, and being caught on live TV doing so?? Because they apparently 'didn't see it'. Jimmie Johnson saw it, while going round the track at over 100mph, but they supposedly missed it.

What you don't realize is that the "prize money" is split.
According to nascar.com, in 2006, driving for Ganassi, Casey Mears earned $5,413,340
I expect he got around half of it ...
that makes around a $2.7 million payday, not bad for 14th in points.

nascar.com shows Montoya as earning $1,167,360 after race 8.
using the above figure, dividing by 8 & multiplying by 36, you come up with a little over $5.25 million ...
I expect he gets around half of it ... (that is the common split but varies by contract)
using half as a guideline Montoya would pocket around $2.6+ million ...
if he can make more money elsewhere & he is unhappy, he is welcome to leave NASCAR !
