Rally Whangarei is a few rallies in one. There are separate podiums at the finish too.
Hopefully one day the rules (Fia, NZRC, NZ club championship etc) can be a bit more uniform. A 400 hp 'open class' Skoda Fabia would be interesting, though Tidemand is fast with what he has currently.

If you compare below the stage time totals for the APRC event versus the NZRC event, you can see Pontus didn't really beat everyone. In fact Ken Block won by a bit of a margin. Unfortunately his closest rival in the national class rolled out of contention on the second day.

    APRC results:
    http://www.chrissport.co.nz/results/...arei/final.htm

    NZRC results:
    http://www.chrissport.co.nz/results/...nzrc/final.htm

    Pontus Tidemand 2:55:29.4
    Ken Block 2:54:53.6

However, Ken's car I imagine runs a fair bit more power than an S2000 car. As he was running under NZ regulations, which essentially allow a 34mm restrictor and 1230kgs, other than that they are pretty open, including ethanol based fuels as well as FIA fuels. So his car probably has a bit of a power advantage?

I think Block had his "america-car", that means a Fiesta WRC with 2 liters Focus-WRC Engine.. So a big advantage with the car and also a good startposition against Pontus who started 2nd on the road first day and first on the road second day.
