    Re: Hillclimb Racing 2014

The silly season in the hillclimb sport is quite 'silly' this year.

David Hauser from Luxembourg, who drove an unique Dallara GP2 the past two years is sadly switching to another brand. He becomes the factory driver for Wolf Racing, who are developing a brand new line-up of Hillclimb cars to challenge Osella.

Osella's top two drivers, European Champion Simone Faggioli and Christian Merli, will both switch cars. It is rumoured that Faggioli switches to a different brand altogether...!

Another driver who has confirmed his entrance in the European Championship is Herbert Pregartner from Austria. He will do all races in his powerful Porsche 911 GT2 RSR.

His countryman Michael Jelinek on the hand focuses on the Hillclimb Cup. He will compete again in his Subaru Impreza EVO.

A little hillclimb update I suppose?

It looks like the F3000 class is back in full force this year. Federico Liber and Fausto Bormolini team up in a pair of Reynard F3000's to do the full European Championship.

Robert Stec from Poland will do a limited European campaign in his Lola F3000, while his wife Irena joins him with a Lotus WR in the E2-SH category.

Yannick Latreille from France will do 8 rounds of the European Championship and another 8 in France in a Lola F3000.

Former champion from Spain, Andrés Vilarińo has bought the Osella PA2000 of Christian Merli, but he will probably not compete outside of Spain and Portugal. Merli has got himself a new PA2000, his precise schedule is unknown.

The entrylist for the first round of the EHC in France will be released soon which will hopefully bring some more surprises.

Good to see Latreille with a F3000. He was good with his CN proto.

Yesterday I was at the Course de Côte de Mont Saint Aubert in Belgium. It was the first race of the year in Belgium. It only counted for the regional championship so most of the drivers were the local heroes in their Peugeot 205 or the likes. The winner in the prototype class was Bruno Collard with the BRC CM05 EVO. While winner of the tourincars was Philippe Dewulf in his new and powerful Citroën Xsara that was originally build for Rallycross.

My photos can be viewed at www.hillclimbportal.com

    Thanks for watching.

Lousada, I was spectating Bergrallye Lodersdorf, where Karl Schagerl outclassed Ianniello, Pailer and other well-known drivers in his Gol MkII. Can you tell me something about that car? I was very impressed by it

Also, big names have presented their cars and programmes, most notably Faggioli. He's changed to a Norma

In Rechbergrennen (Austria) nothing special, another win for Simone Faggioli in new car, Norma M20 FC. Second was Fausto Bormolini and third Liber.

Yes, total domination by Faggioli, even more impressive than with Osella FA30, this time with a car which was widely used by other drivers in EHCC in the last years without notable results. Everyone said the FA30 was the ultimate hill climb machine and that nothing is close to it, and now he is even faster with a similar car that was there all the time. The biggest difference being his Zytek engine
