Hopefully it looks like interest in the Canary Islands tarmac championship is on the increase with Hyundai Canarias announcing a two car team of Rally 2 I20 Ns including a full time seat for a certain Russian..

First round of the Canary Islands tarmac championship takes place in Lanzarote on Saturday and having moved from its usual November date sees the rally attract a decent entry. Two Hyundai Canarias I30s including a Step 2 car for Lucky. Will be interesting to see how Cruz and Copi Sport perform now they have swictched from Ford to Toyota.

Very close at the top with Enrique Cruz adapting to the Yaris very quickly and lying 2nd behind reigning Canary Islands champion Yeray Lemes in C3 Rally 2

Just got back from a great few days in Lanzarote. Nice to see the rally attract most of this year's likely championship contenders as it was the first round as in recent years being the final event of the year the entry has suffered in comparison.

Yeray Lemes won as really expected however Cruz in his first run in the Yaris kept him honest. Luky was fast but Raul Hernandez in the Fabia was my standout driver as he was really spectacular however that probably was his undoing as he retired with double punctures.

By the way, I'm surprise our czech friends didn't bring the news before, but Jan Cerny will drive the C3 Rally2 on three rounds of the canarian rallies championship(under the colour of Citroën Canarias)

Czech friends are not so interested in his starts on canarian rallies. Maybe only Rally Islas Canarias ;-)

Probably because they consider him more Canarian than Czech! He's had a place in Costa Adeje in Tenerife for some time:
