Fontes was pretty near to give Sports&You a dream weekend after Lopez win in Canarias; he was leading in Mortágua on a huge figth with Teodósio, Barbosa and Araújo but crashed with 2 stages to go. Teodósio/Teixeira won their second rally of the season and are now leading the series. Nunes won 2wd category with a 208 and Carvalho was the best N4 on an Evo IX.

    Rally de Mortágua top 10:
    1. Ricardo Teodósio/José Teixeira - Skoda Fabia R5; 1:17:54.1
    2. Armindo Araújo/Luís Ramalho - Hyundai i20 R5; +8.9
    3. Miguel Barbosa/Jorge Carvalho - Skoda Fabia R5; +25.9
    4. Pedro Meireles/Mário Castro - VW Polo R5; +45.8
    5. Paulo Meireles/Marcos Gonçalves - Hyundai i20 R5; +2:27.7
    6. Pedro Almeida/Nuno Almeida - Skoda Fabia R5; +2:33.3
    7. Joaquim Alves/António Costa - Skoda Fabia R5; +3:12.7
    8. Miguel Correia/Pedro Alves - Ford Fiesta R5; +4:20.6
    9. Nuno Madeira/José Janela - Ford Fiesta R5; +5:21.1
    10. António Dias/Pedro Castro - Skoda Fabia R5; +5:27.6

Rally de Portugal was the 4th event of the CPR; Araújo (i20) totally dominated the national field, winning in front of Magalhăes (i20) on the first 1-2 of Hyundai Portugal. A 10s penalty and gearbox issues didn’t allow Teodósio (Fabia) to end better than P3, ahead of Almeida, Salvi and Dias (all in Fabia). Lots of problems for Fontes (C3), that was only P7. Title contender Barbosa (Fabia) abandoned on SS1 while Meireles (Polo) unfortunately lost his car to a fire; fingers crossed for his quick return. Teodósio is still leading the series, ahead of Araújo and Magalhăes. Nunes (208) is leading 2wd category.

It was more than a month ago but the 5th CPR event of the year, Rali de Castelo Branco, saw another fantastic fight between the two main title contenders: Teodósio (Fabia) and Araújo (i20). The Hyundai champ managed to win but Teodósio is still leading the series ahead of next weekend Rally Vinho da Madeira, the most exciting CPR tarmac event.

Rali de Castelo Branco Top 10:

    2. Ricardo Teodósio/José Teixeira - Skoda Fabia R5; +12.5
    3. Miguel Barbosa/Jorge Carvalho - Skoda Fabia R5; +55.9
    4. José Pedro Fontes/Inęs Ponte - Citroen C3 R5; +57.0
    5. Bruno Magalhăes/Hugo Magalhăes - Hyundai i20 R5; +1:42.4
    6. Pedro Almeida/Nuno Almeida - Skoda Fabia R5; +2:37.0
    7. Manuel Castro/Ricardo Cunha - Hyundai i20 R5; +5:16.7

Yep. Sá (11 times Madeira champ) returned this season to rally after almost 7 years absent. He chose a R3 car to get into the pace and already won 2wd category on a couple of events. Hopefully he may upgrade to a R5 car next year.

Third Rali Vinho Madeira win in a row for Camacho/Calado! The local Fabia crew dominated the event despite a hard fight with Lopez (one of the foreign crews present) during first leg. Basso was also there but never close to the lead, fighting with Magalhăes (finally showing a good pace on the i20) for P3 untill a touch on a barrier forced him to retire. CPR main contenders were a bit away, with Araújo being P7 and Teodósio P12, after lots of issues; nevertheless he’s still leading the series ahead of Araújo and Magalhăes, which is now also a title candidate.

Rali Vinho Madeira – Top 10:
    1. Alexandre Camacho/Pedro Calado - Skoda Fabia R5; 2:12:39.1
    2. Jose M. Lopez/Borja Rozada - Citroën C3 R5; + 40.3
    3. Bruno Magalhăes/Hugo Magalhăes - Hyundai i20 R5; + 1:08.3
    4. Miguel Nunes/Joăo Paulo - Hyundai i20 R5; + 1:26.2
    5. José P. Fontes/Inęs Ponte - Citroën C3 R5; + 1:42.6
    6. Joăo Silva/Ricardo Ventura - Citroën DS3 R5; + 2:36.0
    7. Armindo Araújo/Luís Ramalho - Hyundai i20 R5; + 3:05.6
    8. Miguel Barbosa/Jorge Carvalho - Skoda Fabia R5; + 3:28.9
    9. Pedro Meireles/Mário Castro - Volkswagen Polo R5; + 4:01.2
    10. Rui Pinto/Ricardo Faria – Ford Focus WRC; + 4:29.7

PS: absent in Madeira, Daniel Nunes, the spectacular CPR 2wd leader, is in the hospital recovering from a severe road traffic accident. Get well soon Campeăo!
