    F1 testing

so F1 is dropping mid season testing in 2013
F1 drops mid-season test for 2013 - Yahoo! Eurosport UK

why cant they add 3 test days on the thursday before a GP
before the 5th race - Spain
    before the 8th or 9th race - after germany/hungary
    and before 15th or 16th - japan/korea

Televise the test days, do a free admission ( or very cheap ticket price) and split the profit among the teams so they don't have to worry about the cost of it all
    you can't argue with results.

    Spot on.

This is the way it needs to be done.

Complete waste of time and money for mid-season testing. Testing on a Friday/Free Practice is sufficient

Mugello was heavily criticised - not just for its unique layout in F1 terms nor the logistics.

There was the Young Guns test at Silverstone recently. The only major team to turn up was Williams.

As for Silverstone - we know how fickle the weather is! If it rains then its definitely a complete waste of time and money because they don't learn anything about their updates.

This whole ban on testing is absurd. As Alonso said, it's like asking a footballer to train without a football. I don't see why, if they are so worried about cost, they don't add the Monday and Tuesday after certain GPs to be test days. Ok it might not work between GPs that have one week between them but there was never testing between one week gaps anyway, even in the golden days of testing, unless you were Ferrari where one year, at least, they did practice in Monaco on the Thursday and then did one day testing on the Friday in Maranello and back to Monaco again on the Saturday. The teams are already at the circuit so cost is pretty much sewn down to the cost of the test minus the transport it cost it would take to go to other circuits. Plus the circuit is already rubbered min at that stage so they don't spend half the day waiting for it to rubber in like they did in Mugello this year before getting more accurate feedback, especially re tires.
