    Do Not Eat

Silica Gel. What does it do? Why do I get it in my shoe boxes? And what do you think would happen if I ate it?

Any other interesting and curious 'Do Not Eat' things you've come accross?

The silica itself won't kill you but most of them are coated in a colour moisture indicator. Cobalt is good for this as it doesn't take very much of the stuff. The problem with Cobalt Chloride. is that it is a carcinogen.

They say not to eat, but put in packets of Beef Jerkey.
I don't see why, I had some biltong which didn't have any silica in..

It's funny, but i was wondering only yesterday what would happen if you were to eat it.

Decided it might make you sick, but not fatal.

The real question is why would anyone think that they're getting a little treat with their new shoes anyway? Would you tag any sort of packaging with do not eat? Maybe bags of sliced bread should have a do not eat bread tag alert too.
