"It is true that it is a three-cylinder engine, because the rally car is based on a standard car. The GR Yaris has three cylinders. A rally car is based on that car and that engine", Latvala explains.

Good to have clarity from the team, remembering all the arguments about the 1.6T in the original Fiesta R5.

About whether it used the engine from the Fiesta ST base-car, or another Ford engine adapted to fit the size regs.

From the mouth of a team member, I think not. Or give me a link to prove me wrong

When did we even get confirmed news that the car exists?

I think it was rather along the lines of "future Rally2/3 will use the three cylinder".

Maybe i just put one and one together, when reading this article long ago:

    https://dirtfish.com/rally/toyota-se...y2-and-rally3/

"DirtFish understands the one-liter engine option from Toyota wasn’t capable of challenging the 210bhp required for a frontrunning Rally3 machine, hence the shift to a 1.6 motor."

But are there any drawbacks in having a 3 cylinder engine?
