It's not for nothing. The test car no matter which bodyshell it is based on shall share marked features with the real one. Otherwise the development would make little sense. Airflow in the engine compartment is crucial thing.

Does the testmule have 4 similar corners ala R5 when it comes to suspension, or does it only have new engine/gearbox?

Only the people from Škoda know but I would bet it has R5 suspension.
