A perfect example is Subaru. The S12 had three different variations i.e. A, B, C and skipped right to S14. Think this was more of a Japanese cultural thing though.

But nearly never You can find starting number 13 in the start list. The Italians often skip even more numbers.

It is somewhat silly but people aren't always rational and various superstitions, rituals or talismans actually really help them - simply because they believe in them.
