Team Penske dominated the IndyCar Series race at Sonoma to give Roger Penske his first weekend with both a NASCAR Sprint Cup and IndyCar win since 2000.

On June 19, 2000, it was Jeremy Mayfield at Pocono and Helio Castroneves at Belle Isle in Detroit. Saturday night it was Brad Keselowski and Sunday it was Will Power, who led a 1-2-3 podium sweep for Team Penske. Castroneves was second and Ryan Briscoe was third.

And if you thought that Saturday night’s race at new Bristol was boring, well, let’s hope you didn’t watch the IndyCar Series race. The race lead only changed hands via pit stops.

Yes, that’s right. Power, who started from the pole, wasn’t passed under race conditions.

Chip Ganassi won IndyCar and Cup races on the same weekend twice last season. The second time he did it, when Juan Pablo Montoya won at Watkins Glen and Dario Franchitti won at Mid-Ohio, he also won the Rolex Grand-Am race at Watkins Glen the same weekend.
