Egg. Egg laying creatures evolved millions of years before chickens.

some organism which was nothing more than a collection of cells which replicated cells evolved to the point where it created cells that replicated themselves as a new form within itself (an egg) these creatures further evolved, eventually into reptiles (dinosaurs) and then into birds, and at some point later we got chickens, who of course lay eggs. So the egg came first, but not the chicken egg, that needed a chicken.

    cue some creationist garbage
    "I" before "E" except after "C". Weird.

Actually it didn't. The very first chicken egg must have been laid by something that wasn't a chicken - it was laid by whatever the chicken evolved from.
(see - no creationist garbage in sight!!)

Well, I had roast Chicken for dinner last night and boiled egg for breakfast yesterday morning. That would lead me to assume the egg came first.

However, I plan on having a Chicken omelette for lunch today and although the egg goes in first, the Chicken is cooked already so the Chicken comes first?

Not since the fold or scrunch thread have I been so troubled and I'm sure I was both mentally and emotionally scarred by that episode!!!
