Michael Schumacher reported in an interview years ago that he had "gone" in the car during a race and that his teammate at the time, Rubens Barricello, would not. Michael even said that he believed he was eliminating a problem during the race when he did it whereas Rubens just thought he was replacing one problem with another if he had done it. Michael finished the interview by saying that drivers who dump water or other beverages on themselves in Victory Lane usually do it so you can't tell what is what on their firesuit.
In other words, there is no set rule about what each driver chooses to do. MS proves that it's ultimately an individual driver's choice. However, he also proves that some crews probably don't get paid enough for what they have to do to get the car ready for the next race.VERSTAPPEN: ‘If I’d let Sainz past, dad would’ve kicked me in the nuts!’
