While no official times were kept for the event, with officials concerned about exceeding 'safety levels', Button was lapped Bathurst in a McLaren Formula One car in at least 1m48s.
Unofficial timing suggests that Button's lap was 1m48.5s.

Feckin' awesome, by the way! It's a pity that F1 will not go to interesting and challenging tracks like this.

Firstly, it was the first time an F1 car had been driven around Mt Panorama.
Really? What about the 1958 Australian GP? How about the Gold Star Series?

The Mclaren engineers made both Button and Lowndes back right off for the dipper and drive right around the outside of the track, the engineers said the dipper is just too much of a steep drop for an F1 car and would have to be filled in for it to be possible for an F1 car to drive it at full speed.
