Milka Duno now has a second chance to make a first impression in the Indy Racing League.
The Venezuelan sports car driver is expected to be confirmed to the new Indy-car program of Samax Motorsport, the team she drives for in the Grand American Road Racing Series. Her previous IRL deal with Cahill Racing fell apart last month.
Samax director Peter Baron confirmed today that an Indy car has been acquired -- league officials said it came from Hemelgarn Racing -- and that an IRL crew has been established.
But he would not confirm other details about the program, including Duno's role as the driver. A formal announcement is expected later this month, he said, which means the team won't participate in next week's season-opening race in Homestead, Fla.
Duno, 34, was born in Caracas. In January, she became the highest-finishing female in the history of the 24 Hours of Daytona when her team finished second.
Duno, who figures to be sponsored by Citgo, will give the IndyCar Series three female drivers for 2007 _ the others being Danica Patrick (Andretti Green Racing) and Sarah Fisher (Dreyer & Reinbold Racing).
Samax is based in Pompano Beach, Fla."Call Tony George, sell him your assets and save money, if not open-wheel racing."

First leg he will be thinking in Portuguese championship. Then he can go for WRC2.
