Wurz about the new Bridgestone tires

Saying that, I think this tyre is quite similar to what Bridgestone had in 2003 and 2004...

My question is about how would Wurz know what the 2003 and 2004 Bridgestones were like? He was a McLaren tester back than and they were running Michelins, or am I wrong?

My guess is from speaking with other drivers/engineers who were running the Bridgestones at that time.

These guys are testing and racing all the time with the opposition. They may not know the chemical composition of their rival's tyres, but for sure they know a lot about them. In particular, he has seen the other tyres perform while he was driving with his. That's probably enough information for a general comment like that.

If Wurz is however right than I must confess that I'm puzzled that the 2003 and 2004 Bridgestones were that inferior to last years tires for example, given most drivers' comments.

There was a tire-war going on that made tire development rather dynamic you know. As puzzling it may sound, 2003 cars are also inferior to 2006 ones due to competition.
