    Onboard-disaster

    Hey rallyfans!

As a fan I find myself (I know many fans feel the same way) more and more
irritated about the onboard camera on the WRC cars.

I love onboards, but the camera i placed incorrectly today! 10 years back
it was placed correctly, and it was fantastic to see
the action because you saw the road AND the steeringwheel and that
makes all the difference. Then you se how hard the drivers are trying.

The picture is from Finland 2010 with Orgier, where you can
hardly see anything! It is not fun. I know the seats are bigger know,
but for the fans this problem must be solved. A lot of people watch
onboards from the old days because it is simply more fun.

Don't you feel the same way?? What is wrong with the people placing the
    cameras in the cars?

    Hope to hear your thoughts

that inboard sucks... I Liked that helmet cam they tried this year (or was it last year?) but other than that, outside cameras are much better, seats dont allow a nice view from the inside

I prefer well placed onboard than outboards which destroy (or exaggerate) the sensation of speed and changes the acuteness of corners. I prefer seeing more from driver point of view, there's more to learn from it.

The ones they upload in HD free at youtube.com/wrc lately are pretty decent though. I remember having to pay to watch low res clips on wrc.com. They now let you stream coverage of all the rallies in the past 10 years too.

I agree, this irritates me as well.
On MotorsTV they show a lot of in-car footage which results in only a few inches of action most of the time.

MotorsTV have created rallying footage the lowest of low.

Recently watched the '98 WRC highlights. The onboards were so good at that time (the entire presentation too btw).

Completely agree, quality, well placed onboard camera footage where you can see the driver, his inputs, the road ahead with only the raw engine sounds and navigators pacenotes audio should be of absolute importance to any media coverage and was the main reason I used to watch each event on TV.
